Interim Quest
Interim Quest is Saint Stephen’s signature experiential learning week. For five days every spring, near the close of the school year, we set aside the traditional timetable. Every student from Pre-K through Grade 11 steps out of their daily classes to participate in immersive, hands-on learning that can't be experienced at a desk.
The program is structured to expand horizons as students grow: Lower School students engage in deep-dive thematic workshops on campus; Intermediate and Middle School students travel regionally or nationally for outdoor education and history; and Upper School students choose from wilderness expeditions, overseas travel, college tours, service projects, or professional internship placements.
Wilderness & Global Travel
Interim Quest travel ranges from paddle-boarding in regional estuaries to camping in the Florida Keys and cultural study trips abroad. Students learn self-reliance, outdoor survival, and team dynamics in environments that push comfort zones.
These trips - including perhaps a first taste of international travel - build enduring bonds across grades, providing memories that our alumni cite as foundational many years after graduation.
Internships & Career Studies
For Upper School students, Quest week is an opportunity to shadow professionals in fields including medicine, veterinary medicine, law, engineering, real estate, fitness training, the arts and more.
Students gain practical insight into potential careers, learn professional etiquette, and begin building their network of valuable contacts before entering college.
The schedule resets, the walls disappear, and students learn that education is something you live, not just something you study.
