We believe some of life's greatest lessons are learned through participation in team sports. Athletics have been an integral part of SSES since the school's founding, and 20 teams have won state championships — the first in 1981 and the most recent in 2022. Explore to see why our Green & Gold pride runs deep!

College Recruiting

Falcons who want to compete in college get help navigating recruiting and NCAA eligibility. Student-athletes register with the NCAA Eligibility Center — ideally before their freshman year — while our coaches and college-counseling office support the process.

Multi-Sport Athletes

Saint Stephen's soccer celebrates

SSES encourages and celebrates multi-sport athletes who benefit from increased athleticism, better mental development and teamwork skills, and reduced chance of burnout. Many studies suggest less risk of injury and better performance through multi-sport engagement. The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, and the American College of Sports Medicine have all expressed concern about early specialization. Competing on multiple teams increases sports IQ, improves sportsmanship and teaches young athletes to build positive relationships. Each sport has its own range of physical skills that build coordination, balance, flexibility, agility and strength.

Non-Traditional Athlete Program

Our Non-Traditional Athlete Program is designed for students in grades 8-12 enrolled in homeschool, Florida Virtual School, or schools that do not offer the sport in which the student desires to participate, or are enrolled at a school that is not a member of the FHSAA. Non-traditional student-athletes are only allowed to participate on teams whose rosters have not exceeded FHSAA maximums or the coach’s preferred number. As with all varsity teams, playing time is determined by merit and is not guaranteed.

Strength & Conditioning

We build every program on sound science and treat the whole athlete — fewer injuries, more efficient power and speed, and confidence they carry for life.
