Program

The program has a storied history that includes three state championships, with the latest title coming in 2021. The Falcons have dominated the local scene for more than a decade. SSES advanced to four straight state tournaments between 2014-17 – finishing 5th (2014), 7th (2015), 3rd (2016), and 2nd (2017) – and have also qualified in five of the past six years – placing 7th (2020), 1st (2021), 8th (2022), 14th (2023), and 9th (2025). Prep All-American Tyler Leon led the Falcons to their first state title in 2000. He later signed with Oklahoma State and helped the Cowboys win the 2006 NCAA Championship. SSES won the state title again in 2004, led by Michael Amato, who was runner-up for Florida Player of the Year and later starred at Brown University. Tournament medalist Alex Long (Texas A&M) paced the 2021 champs. His brother, Beni Long (Kansas), and teammate Leo Li (Colgate) finished tied for second, just one stroke back.
