Faith & Understanding
At Saint Stephen’s, the way we approach faith and spiritual education revolves around inclusion, understanding, compassion, personal character and ethics. We are proud of the diversity of religious faiths represented here and all families and children are welcomed without question.
This diversity is a strength. Our mission as a school involves creating an environment where “spiritual awareness” is valued.
Strength of character, human compassion, acceptance and assurance are elemental to our students’ experience of faith – an ideal balance to the rigor of our academics and essential to the development and personal growth that enable Saint Stephen’s students to graduate as well-adjusted, intelligent world citizens, confident and prepared to work collaboratively, lead deliberately and achieve their goals.
Christ Episcopal Church is the setting for chapel services and serves as a place for students to gain an understanding of religious faith and gain a respite in the midst of their ever-evolving world.
At chapel, students gather their thoughts and find the peace that enables them to energize their studies, consider their world and grow as a community. Our chaplain is an Episcopal priest, who serves our school community with an appreciation and respect for all.
We strive for justice and peace among all people and respect the dignity of every human being. We actively seek ways for all people to become partners with the spiritual goodness that builds a better world for this new generation.
“Students of all faiths are welcomed here. Simply talking about, praying about, thinking about God helps us grow and gain more understanding of the people and lives around us every day.” - The Rev. Nathan Speck-Ewer Chaplain of Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School
