Middle School (Grades 7 and 8)

Students enjoy a challenging, hands-on curriculum in each of their academic subjects (English, math, social studies, science, Latin and Spanish). They also have learning opportunities in music, art, drama, media production, and technology/design. Classes are small so that each student has the valuable opportunity to speak and be heard.

The faculty is a cohesive team of experienced educators who understand, with equal passion, the subject matter they teach and the students they mentor. These caring teachers adapt their lessons to the learning styles of their students as they prepare them for the challenges of the upper grades, college, and beyond. Each student also has an academic advisor who monitors the student’s academic performance and progress.

The Middle School is a safe community where differences are respected and successes celebrated. Students learn the importance of giving back to the world around them by devoting nine school days each school year to community service. Some groups of students work with the elderly. Some assist teachers in local elementary schools and day-care centers. Others organize food for Meals on Wheels or package seeds to be sent to third-world nations.

The Middle School Sunlight Building is proud to be “green” LEED certified and our students are actively engaged in caring for the building and learning about safeguarding the environment. The centerpiece of the facility is the Wayne C. Rickert Founding Fathers Wall of History, one of the most unique features of the Saint Stephen’s campus. This extraordinary collection of landmark American documents is displayed on a striking backdrop of three murals stretching across the width of the lobby. The center mural depicts an unfurled American flag. It’s flanked on one side by a life-sized depiction of George Washington crossing the Delaware River, and on the other with America’s Founding Fathers gathered at Philadelphia’s Independence Hall. This special, hands-on learning tool includes reproductions of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution, as well as a library of personal letters written by historic figures which reflect the thoughts and beliefs of our nation’s founding fathers.

Ricarda Gonzalez, Saint Stephen's parent

Enrolling our son at Saint Stephen's was the best decision we ever made. Saint Stephen's provides a nurturing environment and rigorous curriculum so that each child's potential is realized and goals are achieved. For us, there is no greater investment than the best education for our child's bright future.
