Community Service

The opportunity to share with and give back to the broader community is the animating spirit of the Saint Stephen’s community service program.  Students in all grades find that community service gives them an opportunity to nurture compassion for others and to better understand themselves. The requirement for graduation is a minimum of 75 hours of community service which meets the eligibility requirement for the Florida Academic Scholars Award through the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program.

Saint Stephen’s philosophy further states: “Students need to learn how to work successfully in cooperation with others and how to be active members of a community. We value and nurture the creative thinker and the independent learner.” The community service programs in all divisions, along with the IQ program, directly address this aspect of the school’s philosophy. The school aims to provide a nurturing environment that values responsible citizenship which involves learning how to share with others and to help others who are in need. This environment exists both in the hallways of the school and in our various programs outside of school.
