Marine Science

No other school in the area offers direct access to the coastal waterways.  Located directly on the McLewis Bayou with access to the Manatee River and the Gulf of Mexico, Saint Stephen’s capitalizes on its premier location by the waterways.

One Ocean, the custom designed pre-k through grade 12 marine science curriculum, provides the opportunity for each child at Saint Stephen’s to study the wonders of the ocean environment.

Partnering with Mote Marine Laboratories our younger students experience ocean field studies tailored to our One Ocean curriculum. Older students explore our ocean planet from the beaches to deep water habitats using hands-on research and digital access to real-time data.

Using our kayak fleet and boats provided by our Partnerships in Education business sponsor, Freedom Boat Club, students leave from our dock on the McLewis Bayou to explore the near-by ocean habitats, completing field studies and developing a real appreciation for the beauty and complexity of the ocean.

Discover the difference of a marine science program like none other, only at Saint Stephen’s.
