At Saint Stephen’s, the Technology Department is committed to providing the best and most up-to-date technological tools for our faculty, students, and administration. Our team of professionals supports the mission of the school by offering training and relevant professional development opportunities to our users, and tools such as a robust wireless network and internet access, high-quality fiber optics and VoIP telephones. We encourage the use of high-tech teaching aids such as document cameras and smart devices, and make every effort to keep these devices updated and available at all times. Our one-to-one iPad initiative for 6th-12th grade students has dynamically revolutionized the classroom, fostering an unprecedented level of learning and understanding.
The Technology Internship Course is designed to groom future technology professionals who have a desire to pursue this exciting field of study. In this course, students learn how a technology operation functions, in real time, by working on real-world problems. Students also put their knowledge into practice in our annual Battle Bots Competition, as well as other long term projects.
Computer Science courses explore the fascinating world of computer programming. The days of meticulous coding and endless troubleshooting are gone. From Day 1, Computer Science students are immersed in a creative, collaborative process, with colorful, thought-provoking results. Younger students are exposed to technology weekly. They learn vital skills such as Digital Citizenship, internet search tools, video acquisition and editing, and basic iPad and computer use. By the time students reach 7th grade, they have been exposed to multiple computers and operating systems, and are highly knowledgeable about the technology around them.
S.T.E.A.M. is not just the latest marketing slogan within the Technology Department. At Saint Stephen’s, S.T.E.A.M. is a way of life. We incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math, into everything we do. The use of 3D printers allows students to explore each of these aspects when designing their projects. Aerodynamic design puts physics into action, and student-led support of technology creates a cohesive, vibrant, and trusting community.
